The Somerset Heritage Centre will transform the way people access information about Somerset ’s history.  It will house all the County’s archives, local studies collection and museum reserve collections in modern, purpose-built facilities.  This will provide easy and convenient opportunities for people to learn about Somerset and their own history through more than 10 million items currently in storage.  Somerset County Council began the process of creating the Somerset Heritage Centre two years ago and the total investment amounts to £8 million, including the purchase of the land and development of all the facilities.
