Tourism and Transport
Taunton is a great place to visit – for the day, for a short break or longer. The town boasts a proud history going back over a thousand years and has excellent recreational facilities including the Museum of Somerset, The Brewhouse Theatre & Arts Centre and the Somerset County Cricket Ground. With a packed diary of events year round, there is always plenty to see and do.
Taunton has some of Britain’s most beautiful landscape on its doorstep, including:
- Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB)
- Quantock Hills (AONB)
- Exmoor National Park Somerset Levels
and it nestles conveniently between the north and south SW peninsular coastlines.
