Project Taunton Appoints New Apprentice

jamesforprint1A new face joined the Project Taunton regeneration team this month. 18 year old James Mitchell-Cassell has been appointed as an apprentice and will be involved across all aspects of the organisation while working towards National Vocational Qualification Level 3.

James will be based at the Project Taunton offices in East Reach House. He previously attended West Somerset Community College in Minehead where he studied A-levels in French, German and Media Studies at the Sixth Form College.

Talking about his appointment, James said: “I was thrilled to hear that I was successful in my interview and had got the job as an apprentice here at Project Taunton. It’s a great scheme and something I can really relate to, having lived in Somerset for most of my life. Seeing Taunton change and blossom into not only a more sustainable and environmentally friendly town, but also a livelier, more interesting town in which to live, work and visit will be fantastic. The best thing about working at Project Taunton is that we are a team, so by working together we can combine our enthusiasm and really make an impact on the town.

“The part of the project that I am most interested and enthusiastic about is the regeneration of the retail side of Taunton. I think this will not only benefit visitors and attract more people to the area, but will also make it more enjoyable for the local people, as many have commented that Bristol and Exeter are currently much better places to shop, eat and socialize. The inclusion of more restaurants and bars will make Taunton a more sophisticated and modern place to be,” he continued.

Ian Franklin, Project Director at Project Taunton, said: “It’s fantastic to have James on board, he’s already hit the ground running with the Project Taunton Construction Breakfast being held in his first week on the job and there’s lots of exciting things coming up during the autumn months to keep him busy. Project Taunton is committed to involving young people throughout the regeneration process; we work closely with Somerset College and local schools and have set up schemes such as the Young Champions Programme. James will be an important part of the Project Taunton team getting involved in all elements of regeneration programme.”
