    Project Taunton, the regeneration of Taunton's town centre, was last night awarded one of the country's highest accolades for excellence in regeneration. At the British Urban Regeneration Association (BURA) Best Practice Awards ceremony, Project Taunton celebrated success in the Strategy and Masterplanning category of the Waterways Renaissance Awards, coming second out of four national finalists.

    The official start of Taunton's much anticipated regeneration takes place this week as the Firepool area of the town is launched onto the open market. Creating a great place to live and work in Taunton, the site - which includes the Livestock Market and Priory Bridge Road car park - is expected to be an exemplar of sustainable development.
