Students Learn about Project Taunton at Somerset College Open Day

Prospective students and their parents learnt about Taunton at the HE Open Day held at Somerset College of Arts and Technology recently. Robbie Lowes, project coordinator at Project Taunton, gave an informative presentation about the town's past, present and future including a pictorial tour.

135 people, who could become Taunton residents of the future, attended the Open Day.

Project Taunton is keen to involve young people at every step of the town's regeneration. In addition to presenting and holding workshops at schools and colleges, it also runs the Project Taunton Young Champions programme where young people of secondary school age learn about the town's regeneration through site visits and other activities.

Robbie Lowes commented: "Project Taunton's Young Champions are a very valuable source of inspiration and opinion which is why we run a specific programme of activities for them. We hope that by working closely with us they develop a strong sense of pride in their town and are inspired to get involved in community matters throughout their lives."
