Students from Bishop Fox’s school recently attended a workshop led by Project Taunton and Yvonne Mackeson of the Genesis Centre to learn about the developments taking place at Longrun Meadows and come up with ideas for the new landscaping project. Approximately 50 Year 10 were involved in a site visit and creative planning sessions.
Following an introduction to the Longrun Meadows landscaping project on the site of the recent flood alleviation works the group walked the length of Longrun Lane to get a feel for the area. Then, in smaller groups, the pupils were given one of six briefs covering individual aspects of the landscaping. Topics covered included natural habitats, active areas, buildings and shelters, forest school activities, travelling to and across the site and communications.
Landscape architect for the project, Steven Swan joined the students at the end of the exercise to discuss ideas which will be used to inform future designs.
