Goodland Gardens Unwrapped

Taunton-Goodland-GardensThe mild winter has been a godsend to RG Spiller's Neil Chick and his team and has resulted in the Goodland Gardens landscaping project finishing early.

From today (Friday 27 January) you will be able to enjoy full access to Goodland Gardens with its new direct link from Bridge Street and new footbridge over the Mill Stream.

We're confident you'll love the transformation from dark and dingy to light, bright and accessible.  As you know the common theme in all our projects is to make the most of the river.

Goodland Gardens is the latest example of where, with a little ingenuity, we've made this possible by elevating the footpath along the riverside.  You can now walk through the town, on the southern side of the River Tone, from Firepool to the new Third Way Bridge.  For the time being you have to cross to the northern side of the river to continue your walk, however when the Linden Homes (formerly Midas Homes) development on the old gas works site is complete, the footpath will continue to French Weir and Longrun Meadow.

walked new Goodlands Gardens way today. Clean and tidy and the planting will soften things up when established. But we were intrigued by the new bridge arrangement with the 70cm (?) headroom at each end. That hadnt stopped the lads who'd snuck under and were on the framework below the bridge!
