High Profile Visitors to Project Taunton's Cultural Quarter
Gerry Sutcliffe, Minister for Sport, and Roy Clare, Chief Executive, Museums, Libraries and Archives (MLA) visited Taunton in the last two months to find out how the town is improving its cultural offering, including arts, sport and theatre facilities.

During their respective tours of Taunton, the visitors called into the Museum of Somerset and then took a walking tour of the Cultural Quarter, along the river; through Castle Green, Goodlands Gardens and St James Street to Coal Orchard, the Brewhouse Theatre and the Cricket Club.
A series of very positive discussions relating to Taunton as a *Living Places pilot took place, including a presentation by the Project Taunton team on the cultural regeneration of the town, plans for new facilities and the impact of the improvements for people living in and visiting Taunton.
* The aim of living places is to ensure that all communities, particularly those experiencing housing-led growth and regeneration, can benefit from cultural and sporting opportunities.
