Somerset County Council is proud to support Project Taunton, which will take Taunton from a traditional market town to a modern, buzzing hive at the forefront of the 21^st century. Project Taunton is necessary, ambitious but realistic and Somerset County Council is one hundred percent committed to seeing Taunton flourish as a key urban area in the South West
> Taunton Deane Borough Council

Project Taunton is one of Taunton Deane Borough Council's four corporate priorities. Taunton Deane Borough Council is committed to the delivery of the regeneration programme and has provided significant areas of land for development such as the Firepool site. The Project has the assurance that the funding generated from the sale of this council-owned land will be fed back into the project.

Project Taunton is the realisation of years of work and dedication by both officers and members of Taunton Deane Borough Council and the other partner agencies. The local authority has a number of aspirations for its local community, which Project Taunton is set to deliver. Fundamentally, it will lead to new commercial and employment opportunities for the Taunton Deane community and will help the Council to address areas of deprivation, which exist in the Borough. It will also allow Taunton to stake its place on the regional scene. Taunton is already a great place to be and Project Taunton will make it better.

The role of the Environment Agency is to look after the environment and make it a better place to live and work.

Project Taunton is an exciting regeneration scheme that the Environment Agency is pleased to partner. There is huge scope for providing exemplar development along a re-energised and enhanced urban river. The partnership has worked very closely towards delivering a common goal, and this is reflected in the awards and national recognition the project has picked up to date. The Environment Agency is keen to see this close involvement continuing with developers during the delivery stage of Project Taunton, to ensure we achieve a high quality, sustainable development, for the people of Taunton.
