East of Taunton Park & Ride - Taunton

East of Taunton Park and Ride

The ‘East Of Taunton Park And Ride’ (ETPR), is a proposal to provide a Park and Ride facility near Junction 25 of the M5.    Levels of congestion in Taunton are forecast to increase by 300-400% by 2011, on 2001 levels and hence there is a need for realistic alternatives to the car, particularly for commuters.

The proposal includes parking spaces for 1,200 cars, access road arrangements including a junction with the existing A358, a long-distance coach pick-up/drop-off facility, bus priority measures and cycle connections to Taunton town centre.

The ETPR will provide commuters and shoppers travelling from the north, east and south of Taunton with a realistic alternative to driving in to the town centre, helping to reduce the growth in congestion.

It will link with the Silk Mills Park and Ride facility, providing east-west cross town park and ride services, which will run in conjunction with north-south cross town conventional bus services.
