Inward Investment

Taunton Means Business

Are you considering starting a new business or re-locating to the South West? If so, Taunton should be at the top of your list. Visit our dedicated inward investment website www.tauntonmeansbusiness.co.uk for more information.DSC_9099

The established sectors of food and drink, retail and public administration, and growing sectors of creative industries, business services and environmental technologies all play a crucial role in the area.

In addition to large public sector organisations, internationally significant businesses operating in Taunton include the UK Hydrographic Office, and IBM.  Taunton is also home to smaller world-class companies - Exmoor Plastics, leading the field in the development and manufacture of surgical devices, GE Technologies, part of the Global GE Group, Peter Brett Associates, nationally renowned transport consultancy, and Western Provident Association (WPA), one of the UK’s largest private medical insurers.

Business in the future

Taunton is positioning itself as a significant South West business location. Firepool, the major commercial element of the town’s regeneration will become a key commercial centre for the South West providing 50,000 m² of office space and more than 400 residential units supported by leisure and retail accommodation.  Work on site began in 2010 and will be delivered in a phased approach over approximately ten years.  With the land held in local authority ownership, Taunton's Firepool site is expected to catch the eye of those responsible for Govenment locations.
