Highways Agency

The Highways Agency is an Executive Agency of the Department for Transport (DfT), and is responsible for operating, maintaining and improving the strategic road network in England on behalf of the Secretary of State for Transport. We are responsible for England's strategic road network - managing traffic, tackling congestion, informing road users, improving safety, minimising adverse impact on the environment and more. We also have a major role in delivering the Government's Ten Year Plan for Transport and are committed to providing value for money by ensuring our business is managed efficiently and effectively.
