Somerset County Museum will close to the public on Saturday 19 April for a two year re-fit. It will open again in the summer of 2010 as
the Museum of Somerset.
The museum, which is located in Taunton Castle, dates back to the 12th Century and was recently awarded almost £5 million of Heritage Lottery funding to conserve and restore the castle and modernise the museum within it. Developments at the museum are an important part of Project Taunton as it is located at the heart of what will be the new cultural quarter.
